Between 10:30 and 11:25 GMT on a Friday, they clocked an incredible 88 drivers exceeding the 30mph speed limit. The fastest offender was recorded at a terrifying 58mph, almost twice the legal limit!
The consequences for these drivers vary. Wiltshire Police has decided to offer 77 drivers a speed awareness course, while 9 will face fines and penalty points, and 2 will have to appear in court.
Sarah Holden, Road Safety Supervisor at Wiltshire Police, emphasized the importance of these checks, especially over the Christmas period. She stated, "Speeding is a major cause of serious and fatal collisions. It's shocking to see drivers disregarding the speed limit, especially in 30mph zones. The limit is there to keep everyone safe."
